The mission of The Cathedral Center is to improve the quality of life for seniors. The purpose of The Center is to assist all seniors, from the active to the homebound, by providing services that channel energy, relieve suffering and protect their health, happiness and well-being. The Cathedral Center serves the senior communities of Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and the entire Coachella Valley.
The Cathedral Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. It is conveniently located within the Tierra del Sol housing complex in Cathedral City, California, near the Cathedral City Civic Center. The beautiful facility has spacious kitchens, relaxing swimming pools, well-organized activity and meeting rooms, plus well-maintained grounds.
The Cathedral Center offers a variety of much-needed programs, activities and services which include social, recreational, educational and health-related programs to over 1,000 outreach clients and over 30,000 other people who are directly involved with the Center from the community at large.
Our senior program is staffed by a group of dedicated people who strive to provide a myriad of programs to benefit seniors. These programs provide educational as well as entertainment value. Seniors have an opportunity to associate with people their own age, and acquire new friends. Activities include art classes, bingo, various crafts, card games, exercise classes, computer classes and other activities.
Our trained Outreach Case Manager provides social services in both English and Spanish. They assist with health care referrals, social programs such as food stamps, Medicaid and Medicare, low income housing referrals, assisted living referrals, care giver referrals, home weatherization, utility rebate information and help filling out the paperwork, and issues faced by senior renters and homeowners. There are also legal aid referrals with a local attorney.
We are extremely proud of our Mobile Pantry Program. The goal of The Mobile Pantry is to provide food and support to low-income seniors in Rancho Mirage and Cathedral Center. The project emphasizes an efficient and low cost way to get food to seniors who depend on it. Our partner in this program is F.I.N.D. (Food In Need of Distribution). We run the program with the goal of treating the seniors with dignity and respect. The seniors who receive the food also participate in unloading the van, sorting the food, and setting up stations for food distribution.
The Center would not be possible without grants, endowments and volunteers. The generosity and support of numerous benefactors and members allow the Cathedral Center to continue, to expand programs, and to develop specialized activities for the needs of the community.
The Cathedral Center is open seven days a week with activities, classes, and special events and serves all of the Coachella Valley.
